Supporting our community

The Deli Shack started in 2007 as a way of securing a new life for my family in arguably one of the finest counties in Britain. As a trained chef I’ve always had a passion for West Country and seasonal produce and so our business is simply an extension of that passion put into practice.

Catering for a challenge

We cater for informal parties and celebrations. North African style barbeques, tapas, huge paellas, stir fries and lots more beside.

I think the most interesting event so far was a shoot near where we live in Devon where I was asked to provide sausages and consommé for 30 people out in the middle of no where! Brilliant fun, if a bit chilly at the time.

So if you want something a bit different and want to work with caterers who enjoy a challenge then get in touch. There’s more information on the site at Events & Catering if you'd like to take a look.

Animal welfare

Animal welfare is paramount in our selection of fresh meats and charcuterie. We've chosen to work with small specialist farmers and rare breed accredited butchers within the region who operate to the highest standards of animal husbandry. We've visited each and everyone to see for ourselves how their operations are run to ensure that we are satisfied. We're also members of the Rare Breed Survival Trust and actively look to support producers who breed and carefully manage these are and wonderful animals.

Local & Regional Produce

It has been my great pleasure and privilege over the past two years to meet and work with so many talented people, some of whom have started their businesses from scratch and gone on to become award winning producers in their own right. Within The Deli Shack you can meet some of them and as time goes on I’ll add to the group so you’ll be able to see for yourself what interesting stories they have to tell.

On that note we're always on the look out for local and regional small producers who would like to work with us, so if you'd like to have a chat please feel free to get in contact.

All of the produce that’s for sale in The Deli Shack has been sampled and selected by me, so I hope you’ll find my tasting notes useful. The Deli Shack goes to market every Friday and Saturday, fifty weeks a year so we’ve had a wealth of first hand customer feed back to hone our business into what it is today.

Working with local schools and National Trust sites

As well as small regional producers we’re also actively supporting our community through healthy eating initiatives with primary schools and National Trust gardens to ensure that we do our part in promoting local and seasonal produce. If you’d like to talk to us about what we’re doing then just drop us a line and we’ll be happy to share our ideas and experiences with you.

Keeping in touch

So as we open up the doors of The Deli Shack to customers across the country we’re able to offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy the amazing produce that we have to offer. We would love you register to keep in contact with us and sample some of the great new lines that we’re planning to bring to market over the next twelve months. If you have a look at the 'What's New' section you'll see what we've been up to lately

So please feel welcome in The Deli Shack and enjoy your visit.
